we are a custom sail loft owned and run by Sean and Inger Rankins in Port Townsend Washington. We place our client’s wishes first and focus on making custom sails to fit your specific needs. This includes any type of new sail, for any type of sailing rig as well as sail repair, alterations, and consulting.

Sean Rankins has been designing, building, and finishing sails since 1976.

“As a custom sail loft, all of our sails are built in our loft located on the Olympic Peninsula, on Port Townsend bay, in Washington state.

We are a full service sail loft offering new sails, repairs, alterations, and all upgrades to your sails and sailing systems. NW Sails specializes in all levels of sail making design and construction. We have a long history of designing and finishing very traditional sails using only the most tried and true practices in design and handwork, using only custom fabrics best suited for this family of sails. We also design and build very modern sails fabricated with the most state of the art materials, for either offshore or inshore, racing or day sailing.
